This Sunday is the day. This Sunday, Pentecost, we will gather again as the church in the same location. We will together receive the gifts of God in Word and Sacrament. You have been missed. The absence of fellowship has made this building and the sanctuary very empty. I look forward to seeing all of you. This note is to help everyone be prepared for this Sunday.

There will be signs and markers on the floor to help us keep our distance, please observe them. Social distancing is a thing and we need to keep it. You will be seated when you arrive at church and it may very well not be in your pew. Pews are all marked with tape, please respect the tape. Masks are not required but are encouraged (for your safety and the comfort-ability levels of others).

Let’s not get bogged down by what we can’t do or where we can’t sit but instead rejoice that we can gather, we can sing, and we can receive the riches of God in Christ.

Service notes:

  • Everything will be on PowerPoint (no bulletins or hymnals)
  • This service will also be streamed live (at 10 a.m.)
  • The Service of the Sacrament will be placed at the end of the service beginning at 11 a.m. (we will have four stations – three of them in the church building as you leave – and one drive to communion station as we have had the past four weeks). If you are not able to be in church, you can watch the Service of the Sacrament and then drive to church for outdoor communion.

Above all, let us respect those returning but fearful, those who are not worried, and those who are not ready to return. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ and so let us love each other as God has first loved us in Jesus.

In Christ, for the church and the world,

Rev. John Wilke
